Voor dit De Ruyter Dutch Courage event op donderdag 23 mei, tijdens Clerkenwell Design Week hebben we als spreker installation artist Maria Vera van Embden Andres.

Maria Vera zal spreken over hoe onze fysieke omgeving onze gemoedstoestand kan beïnvloeden. Met voorbeelden uit de publieke ruimte, architectuur, kunst en design zal Maria Vera laten zien hoe interactiviteit, materiaalgebruik, kleur en licht een gevoel van verwondering en betekenis aan een plek kunnen geven. Reken op een boeiende reeks visuele observaties gecombineerd met persoonlijke visies en overpeinzingen.

Maria Vera, een installation artist met een achtergrond in architectuur en momenteel hoofd Research & Development bij Studio Drift, heeft net haar Londense studio Dreams Work opgericht. Haar nieuwe studio maakt het mogelijk spatial art installations en architectonische ingrepen te bouwen die een plek een gevoel van bewondering en een nieuwe belevenis geven.

Let op, dit event is niet op onze gebruikelijke locatie maar bij Spaces Farringdon vanwege Clerkenwell Design Week!

De Ruyter on Design: How our physical surroundings affect us and influence our state of mind

For this De Ruyter Dutch Courage event, on Thursday 23 May during Clerkenwell Design Week, we are joined by installation artist Maria Vera van Embden Andres.

She will talk about how our physical surroundings can affect us and influence our state of mind. Touching on examples in the realm of public space, architecture, art and design, Maria Vera will address how interactivity, materiality, colour and light can add a sense of wonder and meaning to a place. Expect a compelling series of visual observations accompanied by personal thoughts and reflections.

Maria Vera, installation artist with a foundation in architecture & and currently Director of Research & Development at Studio Drift, recently founded her London studio Dreams Work. Her new studio enables her to develop and create spatial art installations and architectural interventions that trigger a sense of wonder and redefine the perception of a place.

For regular visitors of De Ruyter, this event is not our usual location but at Spaces Farringdon, on the doorstep of Clerkenwell Design Week.

De Ruyter met Double Dutch Drinks, de drinks en mixers startup

Voor dit De Ruyter Dutch Courage event op donderdag 11 april, hebben we als sprekers Joyce en Raissa de Haas van Double Dutch Drinks.

De Nederlandse tweeling Joyce en Raissa de Haas zijn Double Dutch Drinks in 2015 begonnen en hebben hun startup snel uitgebouwd tot een internationaal exporterend bedrijf. Hun reeks tonics met een eigen smaak, speciaal gecreëerd om te mixen met sterke drank heeft al prijzen gewonnen en heeft de tweeling een plek op de Forbes 30 under 30 opgeleverd.

Ze zullen spreken over het opzetten en groeien van hun startup, hoe ze nieuwe smaken ontwikkelen en wat ze in de planning hebben. Zullen ze last krijgen van de Brexit? Zijn er smaken waar het publiek nog niet klaar voor is? Zijn er markten klaar om te ontwikkelen?

Double Dutch Drinks, creating a drinks and mixers startup

For this De Ruyter Dutch Courage event, on Thursday the 11th of April, we are joined by Joyce and Raissa de Haas of Double Dutch Drinks.

Dutch twins Joyce and Raissa de Haas founded Double Dutch Drinks in 2015 and quickly grew it into a globally exporting business. Their selection of flavoured tonics, specifically crafted to pair with spirits, has already won them awards and recently a spot on the Forbes 30 under 30 list.

De Ruyter on the changing landscape in advertising

For this De Ruyter Dutch Courage event, on Thursday 21 March during Advertising Week Europe, we are joined by Martin Verdult, MD of MediaMonks London.

Martin joined content production company MediaMonks London last summer (when it merged with Sir Martin Sorrell’s S4 Capital) from Ogilvy & Mather Shanghai to grow the London operation. He will talk about his journey via Amsterdam and Shanghai to London and about the changing landscape in advertising.

Martin Verdult previously worked at Razorfish, Lost Boys and Cooper + Cross in Amsterdam followed by a four year stint at Ogilvy & Mather Shanghai (the last two years as managing partner). He has worked on brands such as InterContinental Hotels Group, Korean Air, H&M, Budweiser, Nestlé, Mondelez International, Vodafone, Fortis, ING Bank, Mitsubishi and Nissan.
